Carer of the Month – Celebrating Amber Burwood-Beames

Published: Jul, 2026

We are delighted to recognise Amber Burwood-Beames as our Carer of the Month for June, celebrating the kindness, patience and thoughtful approach she brings to those she supports.

Amber joined Angel Carers in mid-November 2025, new to care and initially providing cover for sits. However, during her shadowing, it quickly became clear that Amber was more capable than she had first thought. With training, support and encouragement, she has continued to grow in confidence and has truly thrived in her role.

Since joining us, Amber has fit right in. She always has a warm smile for clients and staff alike and has been exceptionally flexible, picking up shifts and covering clients at very short notice. She has also fully embraced her training and shown a real willingness to learn and develop.

Amber works with us part-time while studying for her A Levels at college, as she prepares to go on to university. At just 19 years old, she has already shown maturity, kindness and dedication beyond her years, and we have received several lovely compliments about the way she supports our clients.

One client recently called to share how much he appreciates Amber, saying she is lovely to talk to, always does what he needs her to do and is very efficient. This kind of feedback means so much and reflects the positive impact Amber is already having.

Amber has shown a natural ability to provide truly person-centred care, taking the time to understand each client as an individual and adapting her approach to meet their needs. This is especially clear in the wonderful relationship she is developing with one client who is living with dementia.

The client’s family shared that Amber naturally meets their mum where she is in her dementia journey, matching her communication to what she is able to process and respond to. This thoughtful and sensitive approach has helped Amber build trust, reassurance and a lovely connection with her.

As a result, Amber has been able to gently encourage her client to undertake some of the necessary care tasks that have become increasingly difficult. This is a real testament to Amber’s patience, understanding and ability to make care feel calm, respectful and supportive.

Dementia care requires empathy, flexibility and the ability to communicate in a way that feels safe and reassuring for the person receiving care. Amber demonstrates these qualities beautifully, showing how small moments of understanding can make a meaningful difference to someone’s day.

Her calm, compassionate manner reflects the values we are so proud to see in our care team. By taking the time to build a relationship and respond to her client’s individual needs, Amber is helping to make care feel more comfortable, positive and personal.

Well done, Amber, and thank you for the care, kindness and dedication you bring to your role. This recognition is very well deserved.
