Introducing VERA Environments: A New Wellbeing Sensory Space at Angel Carers
Over the last few years, something much bigger than an office renovation has been quietly taking shape behind the scenes at Angel Carers.
Alongside completely renovating our new office in Bridport, our directors, Clare Park and Fiona Rowe, have also been developing VERA – Vital Environment Regulation and Assurance – a new wellbeing and sensory environment designed to support relaxation, recovery, emotional balance and connection.
VERA has been inspired by a simple but powerful belief: that the environments we spend time in can influence how we feel, think, connect and experience the world around us.
At Angel Carers, care has always been about people. With over 30 years of combined care experience, we remain committed to helping people stay safe, independent and supported in their own homes. But alongside delivering high-quality care, we have also become increasingly aware of the impact that stress, pressure, environment, and emotional exhaustion can have on those working in the care sector, as well as in the wider community.
That awareness has inspired us to start thinking differently about the spaces we work in, spend time in and use to support wellbeing.
VERA reflects our wider vision of exploring how thoughtfully designed environments can complement the care we provide and help strengthen the connection between healthcare, wellbeing and human connection.
More Than a Standard Wellbeing Room
VERA was never about creating another standard “wellness room” or a simple vibro-acoustic spa bed.
The vision was to go further.
VERA has been designed as a focused sensory environment, created to bring an atmospheric, relaxing, and immersive experience to the workplace, the care sector, and the wider community through a more intentional and forward-thinking approach to wellbeing and environmental design.
The space has been carefully developed around atmosphere, sensory design, natural elements, immersive acoustic sound and vibro-acoustic technology. It combines sensory lighting, calming design features, natural materials and low-frequency sound and vibration to create a powerful wellbeing environment focused on calm, recovery, emotional balance and the overall experience of the space.
A key feature of VERA is the vibro-acoustic floor, designed to support deep relaxation through low-frequency sound and vibration. This approach is intended to help encourage the body’s natural “rest and reset” response, often associated with the parasympathetic nervous system.
Every part of the space has been considered with care, from the way it looks and feels to how sound, vibration, lighting, and atmosphere work together.
Supporting Staff, Care and the Wider Community
Working in care is deeply rewarding, but it can also be emotionally demanding. Care professionals support people through some of life’s most vulnerable moments, often while managing pressure, responsibility and emotional strain.
VERA has been created with our staff, the care sector, the people we support, families and the wider community in mind.
For our team, VERA offers a space to pause, reflect and reset. For clients and families, it represents our continued commitment to person-centred care and emotional wellbeing. For the wider community, it creates an opportunity to experience a different kind of wellbeing environment – one that has been designed with intention, care and purpose.
As Angel Carers continues to deliver high-quality home care, VERA allows us to explore how carefully designed spaces can support not only physical comfort, but also emotional balance, relaxation and connection.
A New Chapter for Angel Carers
The opening of our new Angel Carers office in Bridport has marked an exciting new chapter for our team, the people we support and the wider community.
The new office is more than a workplace. It is a welcoming space that reflects our continued commitment to care, connection and community.
Alongside this new home for Angel Carers, VERA represents something even bigger: a new way of thinking about care, wellbeing and the environments that support us.
We are proud to be bridging the gap between healthcare and wellbeing, right here in Bridport.
Looking Ahead
VERA is still developing, and we are incredibly excited to finally begin sharing the journey.
Over the coming weeks and months, we look forward to welcoming people into the environment, sharing more about the vision behind VERA Environments and inviting people to experience the space for themselves.
Our dedicated VERA Environments Open Day will take place in July, offering an opportunity to visit the space, learn more about the thinking behind it, and experience the environment first-hand.
We will be sharing further updates on our Angel Carers Facebook page.
We are excited for what is still to come.
